25 Years Young

Thompsons are celebrating their 25th anniversary and the survival of 25 years of the booms and busts in the commercial property market. The firm, originally set up by Leslie Thompson and Simon Tomlinson has specialised in commercial property since the early 1980's. Thompsons moved to its current base in Istabraq House in Commercial Road, Swindon in 1998.

Thompsons partner, Andrew Kilpatrick said “The firm's 25th anniversary coincides with the 10th anniversary of the current partnership between Simon Tomlinson and myself. During that time, the firm has doubled in size and achieved recommendations in two national surveys of surveyors for providing quality advice across the South West region. I should like to thank all those clients who have so loyally supported us and been kind enough to recommend our services to others”.

Whilst much of Thompsons' activities are based in Swindon and the surrounding areas they operate on a regional or national basis for certain clients on property acquisitions, rating appeals and rent reviews/lease renewals.

Thompsons' partner, Andrew Kilpatrick, a Chartered Surveyor, is joint author of a book entitled The Businessman's Guide to Rating, a past president of Swindon Junior Chamber and a practising arbitrator and independent expert and a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.

Thompsons' property management activities are managed by Simon Tomlinson, who has 25 years of first hand experience of Swindon's development from a traditional railway town to the present high tech regional business centre. Thompsons' property management activities range from Essex to Herefordshire in the west and from the south coast up to Northamptonshire.

Associate Partner, John Parish has been with Thompsons since 1995 and manages the firm's building surveying department. He is assisted by Louise Marchant.

Thompsons' involvement in the Swindon property market includes recent new building acquisitions for Reckitt Benckiser, Clean Step, Alphacourt, Great Western Enterprise and Pine & Cane. Thompsons were also involved in the development of College Court, Swindon and Wantage Business Park and last year acquired several Swindon investment properties for clients.
